Eating saffron daily helps protect against blindness
A recently-conducted study has claimed that if you eat saffron every day, it can protect you against some common forms of blindness. The study was held at Sydney University in Australia and University of L’Aquila in Italy.
Saffron a.k.a golden spice is a very commonly found spice, which you can easily find in Spanish, Italian and Indian cuisine. It helps prevent loss of eye sight in old age.
Scientist involved in the study say that saffron turns the subtle cells of your eve highly resilient, thus, blindness is not caused to you.
The study, conducted first in animals, proved that if you consume a saffron-included diet, your eyes will be protected against the damage, which is resulted in by bright sunlight. In addition, it is also highly helpful in reducing the progress of genetic diseases as Retinitis Pigmentosa. Scientist also claimed that saffron also helps those who are suffered with age -related macular degeneration. This is a very commonly found form of blindness in old age.
He concluded, “It also affects genes that regulate the fatty acid content of the cell membrane, and this makes the vision cells more resilient and tougher.”
The lead researcher, Prof. Silvia Bisti says that saffron has many such properties, which help protect vision. With its strong anti-oxidant properties, Saffron can block cell death.
