Oolong tea helps in the treatment of stubborn atopic dermatitis
According to an open Japanese study, it is suggested that consumption of oolong tea (Camellia sinensis) helps in getting speedy rid of recalcitrant atopic dermatitis lesions. The 118 study participants went on with their normal dermatologic treatments but also consumed oolong tea (10 g steeped in 1000 mL water a day, divided into three doses).
Beneficial or favorable results were noticed after one to two weeks, and 74 (63%) of the participants demonstrated marked to moderate improvement of lesions after one month.
After six months, 64 patients (54 percent) still showed a positive response to treatment. The study builds on animal research depicting that oral administration of black, green, or oolong tea curbed allergic skin reactions.
