Millions and millions of people across the world suffer from the common problem of Tinnitus, characterised by the ringing, swishing or any kind of continuous sound sin the ears. More of a botheration, rather than being a real disorder, tinnitus is appropriately categorised as a symptom to some other major problem. However, it is easy to cure tinnitus with some natural remedies.

 
Our ears perform two major functions – hearing and balancing. A constant ringing or swishing sound in the ears may effect the normal functioning of the ears to some effect. It is therefore best to cure this problem at the earliest.
 
The problem of tinnitus can be a continuous and persistent one or one that surfaces after certain intervals due to some specific reasons. Generally if the problem is pulsative in nature, it can be detected by the doctor as it is usually due to some vascular disorder. However, sometimes the noises are heard only by the patient and can therefore not be detected by the doctor, this is called subjective tinnitus. There are various factors which lead to tinnitus.

Here are some great herbs to cure tinnitus effectively – 
 
Ginkgo biloba – this is a Chinese herb, which improves the circulatory system as well as the common ailments caused due to aging. It is also a great brain tonic. It is the best cure for tinnitus.
Black cohosh – this herb is used to prepare tinctures which when used on a daily basis, help to cure the problem of tinnitus. It is best advised to be used with ginkgo.
Rosmarinus officinale – this herb improves the circulatory system and also boosts the health and strength of the body. It is good for the blood vessels and also enhances the mood and general well being.
Sesame seeds – these seeds are used for tinnitus since ages by the Chinese. In India too this remedy is used to cure the problem. Sesame seeds are used to prepare spreads, halwas and candy, which when eaten help with the problem.
Avena Sativa – this is an Ayurvedic tonic prepared from the oats plant, which acts as an excellent nerve tonic. It also boosts blood circulation by keeping the cholesterol levels under check. 
Lesser periwinkle – this herb contains the compound vincamine and its extracts taken three times a day in a 20 gms dosage help to cure tinnitus. However, it is not advised for people with low blood pressures.
Verbena officinalis – the herb is known to relieve stress and tension and balances the nervous system.
Mistletoe – prepare a tea from this herb, by mixing 3 tea spoons of the herb in three cups of cold water. This should be left to stand through the night and can be strained the next morning. Warm it before having each time, unsweetened thrice daily.
 
Home remedies to cure tinnitus – here are some remedies from the kitchen to help you cure the constant ringing in the ears.
 
Spinach – including spinach in your daily diet will give you the required intake of zinc, which in turn is good to solve hearing ailments. Some other good sources of zinc are prunes, papaya, cucumbers, asparagus etc.
Sunflower seeds – prepare a tea made from sunflower seeds’ hulls and drink it once a day to improve the condition.
Castor oil – putting three to four drops of castor oil in the ears once a day is said to be good for the problem.
Onion juice – a drop of onion juice if put in each ear thrice a week initially and then once in ten days to taper off helps deal with tinnitus well.
Fenugreek seed tea – a tea made from these seeds is advised to be had in the morning noon and at night. This helps to keep the extra noises in the ears under control.
 
Herbs to avoid

There are certain herbs which you should avoid if you have tinnitus. These are – willow bark, cinchona, meadowsweet, black haw, wintergreen and uva ursi.
