Smoking could make you deaf! By Dharmendra

We all know that smoking leads our body to a variety of diseases and results into a fall in the mortality rate. But, do you know it also causes loss of hearing. If you say no, then let tell you how it gives rise to loss of hearing; temporarily and permanently.

When you smoke, nicotine is also inhaled with it. This nicotine causes many side-effects to our health such as hypertension, breathing problems, cancer and heart problems. Apart from that, the same inhaled nicotine is the real culprit that gives rise to loss of hearing.

An ototoxic drug, the nicotine causes many side-effects on the ear such as, tinnitus, hearing disorders, vertigo and dizziness. Plus, nicotine constricts the blood vessels of our body and produces damage and suffocation and this is applicable to the tiny blood vessels even in the ears. It also rips off oxygen and blood supply to the inner ear. It also affects hair cells and makes them less effective and finally leading to temporary loss of hearing.

The nicotine also gives rise to free radicals which affects our health and body adversely. These free radicals lead our health to damage and it is all applicable to the free radicals that get into the inner ears.  They are also expected to kill the cells and could bring about the situation of permanent loss of hearing.

In addition, smoking also has effect on efficiency and health of the ears; as a result they are made highly-sensitive to loud sound and noises. This also causes permanent damage to the ears and leading loss of hearing.

As we get to our 50’s, we naturally go through the difficulty of hearing. And this stage could be worsening with the passage of time if we smoke.

So, my smoker friends kick off smoking for your own personal goods if you want to enjoy a good power of hearing and good health.
