Tips to prevent winter blues
Below are the ayurvedic tips you can use to reduce and prevent the winter blues, or intensity of seasonal disorder of winter.
1. Make yourself as much as you can exposed to sunlight. Or sit near the fire place if there is no sun light, as it is also very beneficial.
2. Use vata balancing herbal oil (abhyanga) to massage your body. Don’t forget applying oil on your head (moordha taila.).
3. Take a hot water bath to remove the oil. A mixture of flours of green gram (moong), yellow gram (channa), fenu greek seeds (methi) in equivalent amount is the perfect herbal scrub that you can use to wipe out the oil. This mix helps prevent the removing of natural oil from skin.
4. Drink hot soups.
5. Consume vata balancing foods such as oil, wheat, corn, jaggery and black gram.
6. Prickle your taste buds with sour, salt and sweet tastes
7. It is always better to make use of hot water for all every day routine activity.
8. Make use of thick sheets and blankets made of silk, wool and cotton.
9. Try to put on foot wear as much as is possible.
10. Try to be busy sexual act as much as possible.
11. Last but not the least; try to pass your free time with your relatives and friends whom you like.
