Treating tendonitis with aromatherapy oils

With the kind of lifestyle and stressful environment we all live with, it is quite common to experience pain, injury or sprain in one or more parts of the body especially the muscles and tendons. Tendonitis therefore is a common ailment today and finds an excellent and effective cure in aromatherapy oils.
Tendonitis is a condition where the long tendons, which are present at the end of the muscle, joining it to the bones of the joint ahead, get strained. It happens due to some external injury, repetitive movements on a daily basis, false exercising regime, pressure or sudden pull during a strenuous activity.
It is seen that normally, injury involving the muscles, tendons and ligaments take time to heal. Tendonitis is seen to affect wrists, knees, ankles and elbows in general and the area affected becomes swollen and quite tender. The person experiences great pain and movement becomes difficult.

The reason why aromatherapy essential oils are so extensively used is the fact that these oils have a good tissue penetration power. They are thus quite apt as a cure for muscle injuries, ligament ruptures and tendonitis.

There are several ways in which these oils can be used –
- You can use them individually, by direct application in small quantities.

- Oils can also be mixed with some base oil and then applied.

- These oils have to be applied every ten minutes to half an hour as prescribed.

· Avoid using oils which have mixed chemicals in them as pure oils are nest for use on injuries.
· Many essential oils have been graded therapeutically. These are tested oils and are of the best standard.
· Consult an aromatherapy professional before choosing the oils and learn the method of application as well for best results.
