‘Pampering of pregnant lady…’
The sanskar is performed in the fourth month. This ritual is performed for the overall growth and development of foetus. The other sanskars literal meaning of this sanskar is simant (the line of parting hair) + Upnayan (combing hairs from sides to top). 
 
 
This sanskar means (combing/parting wife’s hair drawing from sides to upwards. Using certain herbs - branches of holy fig tree (odumbar) due to its quality of bearing plenty of fruits porcupine spikes as it procreates large in numbers.
 
The scientific logic behind the activity is the facilitation of sahasrar chakra by medicinal properties of these herbs and thus energizing positive energies all through the body and creating a sense of happiness and well-being for both mother and child.
