Scabies is caused by mites. It is a very contagious skin disease that needs immediate attention when infected. Scabies causes constant and too much itching which turns your skin red and develops rashes in the hollow of the elbows, in between the fingers or toes, on the buttocks or on the arms. It affects all and sundry. Even babies aren’t immune to its infection.
The first thing you are supposed to do once you are infected by scabies is to wash your clothes separately, and soak them in hot water with a purifier and iron each garment as well. The heat of iron and water helps destroy the eggs and the mites as well. The mites get multiplied by producing eggs in your skin, which can be transferred with ease into your clothes.
Besides, you can also use the leaves of margosa tree a.k.a. (Neem) to cure scabies. First of all boil its leaves in water, then make a paste of its pulp and apply it on the affected area. The application aids to destroy the mites. Otherwise, soak cotton in the boiled water and use it to cover and clean the affected area. The leaves have medicinal properties and prove highly effective in killing the mites.
Plus, essential oils such as tea tree or lavender also help cure scabies. Take shower with the water as hot as you can bear because it kills the mites. Don’t soak in a bath as it adds to the risk of infesting the tub with mites as well. You should use a strong medicated soap meant exclusively for skin diseases.
After every shower, try to use a fresh towel. Change your clothes 2-3 times a day. Boil left over onion peels in some water for almost 20 minutes. Cool the water and apply it on the affected area.
