The term Chlamydia refers to a group of bacteria that is extremely infectious and results in the most common forms of sexually transmitted diseases. This infectious disease can affect both men and women. The danger factor of Chlamydia is that many times it can grow undetected, eventually resulting in passing on the infection to your partner while intercourse.
Symptoms
Though chlamydia is an easily treatable disease, its symptoms are hardly detectable. While some may suffer from mild symptoms, others may not have any visible symptoms at all. Thus, the condition may be left undiagnosed for a long period leading to serious complications such as infertility.
However, some possible symptoms of Chlamydia may include creamy discharges while urinating; open scabs, ulcers, or any openings on your genitals that seem abnormal and oddly looking spots in your eyeballs.
Causes
The chief cause of this infection is Chlamydia trachomatis. Primarily, the infection affects in the urethra of men. It may include factors such as pain during urination, pain in the rectum, discharge from penis and pain in the testicles. Cervix is the main body part of women that is affected by Chlamydia. It may cause vaginal discharge, irritation, pain during sexual intercourse, pain while urinating, pelvic and lower abdomen pain. But the matter of concern is that these causes are not specific to Chlamydia only. So, you need to consult a doctor.
Other causes include sexual relation with a number of sexual partners, and from an infected mother to her baby during childbirth.
