Alternative medicines becoming rage in modern world By Staff Writer

Old has always been gold, and this is well proved when I look at the people worldwide embracing our alternate systems of medicines like Ayurveda, homeopathy. The age-old or time-tested traditional system of medicines has seen such a striking growth recently it has become an apple of eye worldwide.

India's capability in ancient treatments like, ayurveda, unani, naturopathy, homeopathy and siddha are highly demanded nowadays as they don’t have any side effects.

Anoop Misra, Department of Diabetes and Metabolism, Fortis Group of Hospitals, says, "The demand for Ayurvedic medicines has increased in the last five years to more than Rs 3,000 crore, as they have started marketing their products in a better manner and also conducted scientific trials to prove the permanent cure of some diseases."

There doesn’t seem any other option to allopathy so far as the cardiac medicines or emergency are concerned.

The (WHO) World Health Organization says that over 1bln people make use of herbal medicines and in India over 65% villagers employ Ayurveda and medical plants to cater their daily health care requirements.
