Are vitamin pills useful?
If you think your daily intake of vitamin pills can keep you immune against the several diseases, then you are at wrong. This is well-proven by a study that questions the value of vitamins in its report and says that intake of vitamins rich diet is better than daily intake of vitamin pills. This finding has left lots of a people clueless with regard to the effectiveness of vitamin use.
Lacking of vitamin D causes to the arrival of many types of disease. And according to the study, there are many Americans who have less amount of vitamin D. Therefore they are found more prone to the disease such as osteoporosis, gingivitis, colon cancer, etc, among others.
Elisabetta Politi, nutrition director at the Duke Diet and Fitness Center, says, “While vitamins are not meant to be magic bullets of prevention, most Americans have poor eating habits and don’t get the daily recommended allowance of most vitamins and minerals. That’s why we continue to recommend a well-balanced multi-vitamin.”
Intake of vitamin also has effects on ones economy. That is why; a healthy balanced diet is suggested in place of daily vitamin pill intake. A balanced healthy diet possibly should be included with the following things:
1. It should have 5 portions of fruits and vegetables.
2. Opting for fresh vegetables instead of frozen ones.
3. Intake of sweet vegetables like carrots, corn, fruits, etc. is good to overcome sweet cravings.
4. Intake of dark green leafy vegs such as spinach etc, are a great source of minerals.
5. Regular intake of almost 3-servings of low-fat dairy products.
6. Maintain a balance between the amount of calorie burnt and the amounts of calorie intake.
Politi says that, “The bottom line is if you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean protein and whole grains, your diet will provide you with the right mix of carbohydrate, fiber and healthy fats.”
However, with a right balanced meal, vitamin consumption is also needed for those who:
1.Are vegetarian, and don’t even eat animal products such as; milk, cheese, eggs, etc.
2.Have gone through surgery on their digest tract.
3.Are breast-feeding or pregnant women.
4.Are on a controlled calorie diet.
5.Are allergetic to a special food.
6.Are a poor or picky eater.
Politi suggest the intake of vitamin pill along with the main meal of the day improves its absorption. Warning ahead she says, akin to medicines, vitamin pills too get expired and lose out their biological properties.
