Following the reports of increase in drug trafficking in European markets, the European Union has sounded an alert regarding the same, as drug dealers are getting innovative in their strategies.

Despite many drugs and herbal mixes being deemed illegal in the European markets they are still available to the customers. Despite being banned these herbal mixes are more easily available online, from where they can be purchased without a problem.

The EU drugs agency, mentioned in its annual report the severe problem it is facing in the form of innovative drug suppliers who work their way around rules and quickly devise means to bend them and outsmart all control measures.

According to the agency, the herbal mixes are not a problem. However, the agency has found some batches of herbal mixes containing synthetic cannabinoids, which are similar in effect to the banned drug – cannabis.

What worries the agency is the fact that the number of such batches is unknown and how many such products mixed with this synthetic compound have been sold is also not clear. This clearly is a dangerous situation.

The agency’s report states a controlled situation as far as use of heroin is concerned and a decline in the use of cannabis among teens especially after it became a controlled substance.  However, it also mentions a disturbing rise in the use of cocaine, as it is easily available. Across Europe, the agency has found 115 online drug shops.
