Five Ayurveda research institutes for Karnataka

Karnataka will soon have five Ayurveda research institutes. This was announced by Director of AYUSH GN Srikantaiah at a felicitation ceremony organised by Karnataka Rajya Ayurveda Padhavidharara Parishat, Ayurveda Prachara Parishat Trust and Vaidyavartha Prakashana in Mysore, on Sunday.
Srikantaiah also announced a grant of Rs 25 lakh by his department for each of the five research institute on the occasion . These institutes are soon going to be built and developed in five different districts of the state. Mysore, Udupi, and Shimoga are among the select districts.
He said while the department awaited approval from the state government for the project, efforts are afoot to make this proposal a twenty-year vision document. He informed that there were many more plans to promote and develop Ayurveda in the southern state.
In addition, six acres of land has been identified in Mysore by the college authorities to develop a post graduate college for students willing to study Ayurveda at master’s level. There are also plans to establish a Panchakarma hospital and a hostel for girls in the premises.
Apart from the proposed college, hospital and research institutes, there are more plans to develop super speciality hospitals for various fields like cardiology and neurology in the forthcoming months. Ayurveda is sure to develop by leaps and bounds by all these integrated efforts.
