Himachal will promote Yoga and Naturopathy By Staff Writer

Himachal Government has decided to promote Yoga and Naturopathy in all the schools and hospitals of the state. The decision was taken in a meeting which was presided over by Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health and Ayurveda Minister Himachal Pradesh.

Yoga and Naturopathy centres will be set up in six recently identified hospitals. Besides, the govt also has plans to start Yoga and Naturopathy OPD in Paprola-based Ayurvedic College.

The Ayurveda Department has been directed to bring out publicity material to popularize ayurvedic treatment.

Dr. Murthy, Director, Central Council for Yoga and Naturopathy said, “Government of India would provide Rs. 5 lac to State for launching State wide campaign to promote naturopathy and added that districts would be provided Rs. 3.50 lac under the campaign. A financial assistance of Rs. 9 lac to Government hospitals would also be provided by Centre annually for starting this treatment.”

In order to impart Yoga education, the govt says that trained Yoga teachers will be made available in all panchayats and syllabus up to 5th standard. A special one month training programme on Yoga will be held for teachers alongside Government of India.
