True, perfect health may be a Utopian concept, but Nancy Smithers seems to have evolved the next best alternative. The success story of her magic health bullets dates back to seventeen years. Now a big name in the manufacture of certified organic whole food vitamins and herbal capsules, it was then that Nova Scotia got initiated as a homegrown herbal remedy business in Smithers’ kitchen.   With the help of her physiotherapist sister who was on the look out for better quality herbal remedies, chopping of those dried medicinal roots soon became much more a hobby. The testimony of Smithers’ success story is the 30,000-square-foot-manufacturing facility that stands on her 250-acre organic farm.

Now, what was once a pass time has gained Nancy Smithers much deserved national recognition. The Organic Achievement Award at the Canadian Health Food Association’s Expo East trade show was indeed a lifetime achievement for Smither. Despite the enviable growth that the firm accomplished, Smithers’ winning philosophy remains much the same. As she puts it,

” It’s out there in nature and that’s the way we’re supposed to get it.”

Nova Greens, a detoxifying green drink mix marketed by the company is a blend of nutritious algae, phytonutrients, Chinese mushrooms, herbs and greens. Being the first certified Canadian organic energy drink it was held in high demand by the public much like her Vitamin D that is derived from an organic sweet potato base. She rightly traces back the root of her popular calcium vitamins to powdered eggshells. The 62-year-old is so confident about her organic medication that she tests them all on herself before getting them marketed.
