Kangra to revive primitive herbal remedies
The Kangra Herbs Society has announced the availability of a processing unit, which aims at making medicated formulations from thousands of different herbs. The noble move has been taken to revive old herbal remedies.
A research center has been instituted by the Metti-based society. Known as the HARB (Herbs Antique Research Botanical), the center will conduct active researches in ancient medicines.
The research center is also intended for reviving the significance of these herbs for many a fatal diseases treatment.
The research, carried out under the HARB, include Ayurveda Acharyas, Botanists, food specialists, chemists and farmers, Botanists, cosmetologists, engineers, cosmetologists and food specialists.
H S Guleria, Director, Kangra Herbs Society, said, "First we started contacting the folklore people. They started telling us few tips that this herb is good at this and this herb is good at this. We then gathered knowledge about, say, 50 herbs. Then we invited few of the known scientists from the world over. And then it was confirmed that these were the same herbs, which we used to talk about, because they are almost on the verge of extinction. Once they confirmed that, we went for cultivation programme."
The society has also egged on local people of Kangra (Himachal) to cultivate herbs assuring them buyback guarantee.
