Mind-body treatment is found to have made a positive impact on infertile women who undergo in vitro fertilization treatment, at least after one cycle. The study conducted by mind-body therapy specialist Dr. Alice Domar in Boston has concluded that mind-body programs proved fruitful in 52 percent of the women who underwent the test during the second cycle of IVF treatments.
However, no obvious difference was noted in the tests done on them during the first cycle, which included ten sessions of mind-body program. However, the unique therapy was found to be more effective in women suffering from depression. Dr. R. Dale McClure, president of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine said that a holistic approach to infertility treatment is sure to provide better results.
In a related study done in University of California, it has been revealed that most of the infertile couples tried complementary and alternative medical therapy. It has been revealed that out of the total 431 infertile couples who have been subjected to survey, 28 percent went after this mode of treatment.
While acupuncture remained the most popular approach of medication, herbal therapy which was appreciated by 17 percent of couples by the surveyed stood second. A lesser five percent believed in bodywork.
However, the study made it clear that wealthy people embraced alternative therapies the most. Another research done in New York has come out with the result that more than 90 percent the infertile couples who took to alternative therapies found it to be effective.
All the studies will be officially released at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, which will be held in Atlanta from October 17 to 21.
