Orissa government nod for AYUSH centres

 The Orissa government has proclaimed loud that the health of its people is its greatest wealth. The state government has given its nod for setting up AYUSH health centres in all its allopathic hospitals. These health centres will provide both general and specialized medication in different streams of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy. The government has also decided to ensure proper supply of medicines to those health centres located in remote rural areas.

 
The decision to set up the AYUSH centres was taken on Monday at a meeting convened at the State Secretariat. The high-level meet was presided over by the state health and family welfare minister Mr. Prasanna Acharya. As part of providing monetary support for the smooth implementation of the new scheme, all district headquarters will be provided Rs 30 lakh each. A yearly grant of Rs 3.20 lakh has been allotted for the purpose. The government has also set apart Rs 50 lakh for the development of AYUSH hospitals. The contingency amount earmarked for the purpose comes to Rs 14 lakh.
 
The state government has also decided to conduct a mega health fair in order to create awareness among the people regarding the importance of AYUSH treatment. Health secretary Anu Garg, central AYUSH deputy advisor S.N. Sahoo and joint health secretary Sanjay Kumar Panda were also present at the meeting.
