Pharmaceutical medicines extracted from trees and plants
Often taken as supplements, Herbal medicine is a part of whole medicine systems. Whole medical systems are comprehensive medical systems. Naturopathy or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are also the part of this system.
These medicine systems developed by their own from allopathic (western conventional) medicine. In traditional medicine, many pharmaceuticals are extracted from plants, herbs you are aware of.
Digitalis, a heart drug, is prepared from the foxglove plant. Morphine has its roots from the opium poppy. Daffodil bulbs help create galantamine, which is a drug for alzheimer's. Indian snakeroot plant proves to be very helpful in creating reserpine, which is a drug to lessen blood pressure. Vincristine, a cancer drug, is extracted from rosy periwinkle plant.
Last but not the least is asprin, which is prepared from the willow tree.
Herbal medicine has varied forms. Every medicine comes included with the components that have their origin from nature. If they are made in a lab (synthetic), we have known to copy something that was found in nature.
