Rs five lakh sanctioned for Homeopathic research on H1N1

In the absence of a reliable vaccine to combat the swine flu disease, people infected with the deadly virus are left with no option but to take recourse to antiviral drug, Tamiflu, for survival. Under the circumstances, any talk of a remedy serves as a ray of hope.

 

Against this backdrop Dhondumama Sathe Homoeopathic Medical College has come out with a research project to tackle H1N1 flu menace.  The college has been sanctioned with a Rs 5 lakh for the research.

 

Minister of State for Public Health Shobha Bacchav made an announcement to this effect at a seminar, ‘swine flu and its containment and treatment through homeopathy’ in Pune. 

 

Swine flu cases are increasing by the day. While the West has seen many casualties due the H1N1 virus in the recent past, the deadly virus has claimed the first life on Indian soil. The pace with which the deadline infection is spreading has put the medical fraternity in quandary. 

 

At the seminar organized to coincide with the foundation day celebrations of the Maharashtra Technical Education Society, Bachchav reiterated government’s assurance that all steps are being taken to keep the spread of the deadly disease under check. She sought to allay fears in general public in this regard. 

 

In this context, the minister also solicited cooperation from practitioners of parallel systems of medicine in the fight against swine flu which is taking pandemic proportion in the West.
