 The Orissa government has proclaimed loud that the health of its people is its greatest wealth. The state government has given its nod for setting up AYUSH health centres in all its allopathic hospitals. These health centres will provide both general and specialized medication in different streams of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy. The government has also decided to ensure proper supply of medicines to those health centres located in remote rural areas.

No longer do people drift away from homeopathic treatment, equating it to snail-paced cure or placebo. The system of medicine seems to have got an ardent supporter in Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who on Thurdsday proclaimed that her government was dedicated to the development of homeopathic mode of treatment.  Inaugurating a campaign on 'Homoeopathy for Healthy Mother and Happy Child', Mrs.

Out of 38 Ayurvedic preparations for eight disease conditions, 20 formulations have been provided for the pre-clinical research to the CSIR under a Partnership Scheme called the Golden Triangle. the project has been launched with an avowed aim to develop new medicines validate the Ayurvedic medicines.

In a move that would get kudos from practitioners and believers in Indian systems of alternative medicines, especially Ayurveda, the Indian government has revealed that it is in a process that would allow the standardization of the practice and procedures of Ayurveda, especially Panchkarma globally.

The Department of AYUSH plans to implement numerous Central Sector Schemes and Centrally Sponsored Schemes for the promotion and development of AYUSH systems, comprising the Unani System of Medicine.
