Spa treatments have emerged as the ideal ways of treating physical and mental stress. It is fast emerging as the means where many stressed and lethargic looking professionals in the corporate and other businesses get fresh lease of life. As per the statistics, it is expected that around 700 new spas are likely to be opened over the next four years time.

As the tourists season is about to begin in Kerela the state tourism department is going all out to attract tourists from world over especially Scandinavia. With a team of seventeen trade representatives like hoteliers, tour operators and tourism officials, this team travelled to Scandinavia to attract tourists and lure them to Kerala this season.

While the modern medicine market of India is seeing a slowdown in recent times, the spa and traditional Indian medicine market has made a place for itself globally and there are many who come to India to avail the pleasures of these destinations. Looking forward towards Commonwealth Games 2010, India once again is expecting a steep rise in the tourists seeking the spa and alternative therapies.

The 30-year war between the Sri Lanka government and the Tamil Tigers ended in May this year which has made the Sri Lankan government to look into the revival of tourism in the country.  One of the prominent hotel firms in Sri Lanka, Aitken Space Hotels will partner with Six Senses Spa to develop a market resort in the in Beruwalla near Ahungalla. Malin Hapugoda, the Managing Director of the Aitken Spence Hotels confirms that. The project had had talks before was shelved due to the war.
