Indian holistic therapy: Dwarfs in the global arena

It is shocking to learn, that despite being one of the ‘mega’ biodiversity centers of the world, offering as many as 45,000 plant species, the country still has an inconsequential presence in the global market for holistic therapies. Even though India is home to three of the oldest medicinal systems of the world, namely, Siddha, Ayurveda, and Unani forms of medicine, we have been unable to harness our potential in this field and to use it to our advantage.
History of Siddha System of Medicine

The Siddha is the oldest and most traditional form of system of medicine in India. Based on the lines of the Ayurveda system of medicine, the Siddha finds its origins in the Dravidian culture. The complete literature of this medicine system is preserved in Tamil. Practitioners of the Siddha are known as Siddhars.
Golden Triangle scheme clears Ayurvedic formulations for 8 diseases

Out of 38 Ayurvedic preparations for eight disease conditions, 20 formulations have been provided for the pre-clinical research to the CSIR under a Partnership Scheme called the Golden Triangle. the project has been launched with an avowed aim to develop new medicines validate the Ayurvedic medicines.
Two-day meet held in Ludhiana to educate people on Ayurveda
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Punjab recently organized a 2-day meet known as‘Arogya.’ The event aimed at educating people on the traditional systems of medicine in India and promoting healthy living in modern-day society.
