The Indian herbal market has recorded an encouraging growth, short to China by just two notches, as the largest producer of medicinal plants. The impending Ayurvedic industry is gradually gaining global acceptance and strongly emerging as an alternative system of medicine and health care.

In a move that would get kudos from practitioners and believers in Indian systems of alternative medicines, especially Ayurveda, the Indian government has revealed that it is in a process that would allow the standardization of the practice and procedures of Ayurveda, especially Panchkarma globally.

Doctors in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have issued public health warnings against the use of weight-loss drugs marketed as ‘herbal’ or ‘natural. They say that these drugs could actually contain dangerous chemicals and must not be taken without medical advice.
 

Where homeopathy is being adopted as the best alternative system of medicine globally, doctors and scientists at the Voice of Young Science Network (UK) have asked WHO to ban homeopathy as a treatment for serious diseases, like HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB.
