Naturopathy form of medicine relies on completely natural therapies to cure an ailment alongside the natural healing process of the body. The treatment lays emphasis on a person’s ‘vital force’ to take shape and thwart the disease, rather than using chemical drugs to cure the patient. Therefore, when a patient decides to adopt the naturopathy form of treatment, he usually has to provide a detailed history of his medical health as well as lifestyle. It is only after investigation that a physician of naturopathy can start the treatment.

A majority of physicians who practice naturopathy are specialists in their field, even though they work in seemingly simple fields of nutrition and diet. Naturopathy defines the role of a physician as that of a teacher or a facilitator. Here, the physicians mainly treat the patient by allowing his or her body to heal itself naturally. They do, of course, prescribe therapies that complement this self-healing process initiated by the body. While the physicians act as a guide for the patient to recovery, almost all of them advise their patients to bring about changes in their eating habits as well as their lifestyle to enjoy a healthy life.

The therapies or natural medicines prescribed by the physicians of naturopathy have their own unique philosophies. Some of the major forms of medicines used by physicians in naturopathy include:

1. Nutritional medicines

Even while self-healing is given utmost importance under naturopathy, this form of medicine does believe that some ailments can be more effectively and comprehensively be taken care of with the help of some nutritional medicines. Therefore, physicians prescribe some natural supplements in their treatment methods. These supplements, however, are mild in terms of their side-effects on the human body, therefore making them quite safe to use.

2. Herbal medicines

True to its name and philosophy, the naturopathy form of medicine makes use of a wide variety of plants that possess medicinal properties. One of the biggest advantages of herbal medicines is that a single medicine can eliminate or cure a combination of ailments in the body. A chemical drug, on the other hand, is usually only able to concentrate on a single symptom or problem in the body at a time. Yet another advantage of using herbal medicines is that they have less or no side-effects on the body. The fact that most of the herbal medicines are easily available and are quite affordable too makes them even more sought-after.

3. Homeopathy

Naturopathy form of medicine makes extensive use of homeopathic medicines. This is mainly due to the fact that homeopathic medicines are extremely safe, and do not cause any side-effects on the body. Although the medicine has a subtle way of working, it is highly effective. It not only cures the ailment, but also builds up the body’s immune system simultaneously.
4. Physical therapies:
Physical therapies are, perhaps, the most famous icons of naturopathy. These therapies work on every part of the body, including the muscles and bones. Therefore, physicians of naturopathy are wont to using therapies that make use of water, heat, massage techniques, air pressure, diathermy, electrical pulses, as well as normal exercises to cure various ailments.
